WHY THE HOUSE BUILDS ONLY ON SHOPIFY
A MONOLITH IS CUT FROM ONE BLOCK. A HOUSE STANDS ON ONE GROUND.

Every store the Digital Monolith builds stands on Shopify. Not because the house cannot work elsewhere, but because a monolith is cut from one block, and a house that builds to last chooses one ground and learns it to the last grain.
This tabula explains the choice: what the ground carries, why there is only one, and what becomes of the site a brand already has when it comes to the house.
A reputation is what is built on the ground
Shopify is often seen as the platform of quick shops: a purchased theme, a dozen apps, a store assembled in an afternoon. That reputation describes what is usually built on it, not the ground itself. The same platform that carries a template shop can carry a store written by hand, line by line, in its own template language, Liquid.
granitart.studio stands on that ground, with no apps. Measured in Google Lighthouse on 21 October 2026, it scored 99 on mobile and 100 on desktop. The platform did not set that ceiling. What was built on it did.
What the ground carries
A store has a body the visitor never sees: the server that answers, the certificate that protects every visit, the checkout that takes a card, the updates that close each new weakness. On Shopify the platform carries that body. Hosting and the SSL certificate are part of the subscription, and the platform is certified Level 1 under PCI DSS, the highest standard of the card industry.
On a self-hosted platform such as WordPress with WooCommerce, the owner carries it. The owner rents the server, installs the certificate, keeps the core, the theme and every plugin updated, and answers for the security of each of them. Many do it well. Many pay someone to do it, every month, for as long as the site stands.
A store the house builds on Shopify has no separate bill for a server, no maintenance contract and no premium plugin to renew. It has one subscription, and the work.
The ground is not the work. It is what lets the work stand.
The law of the house
Why one ground
A stone house that cut every stone it was offered would master none. The house cuts granite, and knows how it breaks. The same law governs code.
The Codex Arch 7.7 Centurion Protocol, the standard every build is measured against, is written for this ground: its template language, its delivery, its limits, and the few scripts the platform adds to every storefront. One ground, learned to the last point, is what allows the measurements to be promised in writing before the first line is cut.
What becomes of the site you already have
Nothing of it is copied. The house does not move an old site onto a new platform, because it does not repeat what stood before. Every store is drawn and built from zero, as a new face of the brand.
Only the technical ground is carried over: the domain and the mail. The domain stays the property of the brand and is pointed to the new store on the day it opens. The mail keeps its address. The old platform is closed when the new store is live, and for the visitor the change is a single one: the store is new, and it opens at once.
After the house
The owner works in the Shopify admin: products, prices, orders, pages. It is made to be used without a developer. What the owner adds lives inside the structure the house wrote, and the structure stays whole.
The work is handed over with the measurements it was promised, and the ground beneath it is kept by the platform, not by the owner.
The record
- Ground: Shopify, for every store of the Digital Monolith.
- Carried by the platform: hosting, the SSL certificate, the checkout, and certification at Level 1 under PCI DSS.
- Carried by the owner on a self-hosted platform: the server, the certificate, the updates and the security of every plugin.
- The build: drawn and written from zero in Liquid, with no apps and no purchased theme.
- Carried over from an old site: the domain and the mail. Nothing else is copied.
- granitart.studio, 21 October 2026: mobile 99 and desktop 100 in Lighthouse, with no apps.
