TAURUNUM PEARL

Taurunum was the Roman fortress on the Danube where Zemun stands today. The identity joins Roman gravity with the softness of the pearl, because the bag already holds both: an object made by hand, stitch by stitch, to last.

The name is written TAVRVNVM, with V in place of U, as on Roman inscriptions. The same V is the shape of the crochet stitch, so the logotype reads history and craft at once. Every letter is drawn in the proportions of Roman capitals. It cannot be typed in any program.

The mark is an arch of eleven pearls over a thin threshold, graduated from the centre like a true strand. One form carries three meanings: the Roman gate, the outline of the N°3 Half-round, and a string of pearls.

The palette is quiet so the bags can be loud. Eighteen yarn colours live on the bags and in the photographs, never in the design, so the only colour that holds the eye is the colour of the bag.

On the home page a gold threshold runs edge to edge beneath the name, with the pearl arch at its centre like a city gate. The customer account is left out on purpose. Every step before an order is a place where a customer leaves.
